Cataracts PDF Print E-mail

Cataracts: Density and color changes in the human lens which cause a decrease in vision, glare and problems with normal daily activities (e.g. reading, watching television, sewing, bowling, golfing, etc.). Treatment: surgery is offered when such activities become difficult and refractive correction is no longer helpful.  Intraocular lenses are placed in the eye at surgery to help correct vision.  Laser is NOT used for cataract extraction. Rather, the latest technology called ultrasound is used to remove the cataractous lens.
